THE INFLECTION POINT
The story was built for a different moment.
FOR PE-BACKED COMPANIES
What made you worth acquiring won't make you worth exiting.
The company you acquired was worth buying for what it was. The thesis is what it could become. The gap between those two things is exactly where value leaks: in products that do not cohere, teams that have never aligned, and a market story built for a previous owner. The clock is running.
40% of PE investors report a valuation haircut of 5% or more where product and digital maturity lags. Only 8% report no impact at all.
FOR SERIES B & BEYOND
The story that closed your round was optimized for investors. Compelling enough to get a check written. But now it has to convince enterprise buyers, attract senior talent, align a growing team, and hold up against a competitor who is paying attention for the first time. It was never designed to do any of those things. And nobody told you that.
Fewer than one in ten Series B companies reach Series C within two years. Before 2022 it was closer to one in three. Rarely because the product failed. Usually because the story only worked when the founder told it.
What got you funded won't get you to the next level.
Same problem. Different stakes. One methodology.

"I validate first. Because the most expensive assumption in business is the one you never thought to question."
FROM EXPERIENCE
Before I built Dock Health, I spent five weeks inside Boston Children's Hospital. No deck. No prototype. No assumptions about what clinicians needed. Just watching. Listening. Sitting across from people in the middle of their actual days.
Then one afternoon, I sat across from a woman at Mass General. An MD, mom of three, leading a special team focused on clinician burnout. I asked her how she did it all. She reached into her purse and pulled out a stack of Post-it notes, and said…
"I can't go to sleep until I get through this whole stack." Her entire system. In a purse. In a hospital corridor.
That gap between what the system had built for her and what she actually needed became Dock Health. And it became the way I work with every company I touch. I go outside before I touch anything inside.

FROM EXPERIENCE
Outside-In.
Most people fix the team, then hope the product improves. Most build the brand, then hope the market believes it. I work the other way starting with what is actually true outside and rebuilding inward from there.
01 - GO OUTSIDE FIRST
Customer reality before everything else.
What customers actually experience. What they actually need. What opportunity are they pointing to that nobody inside the building can see? This is where the truth lives.
02 - FIND WHAT IS ACTUALLY TRUE
Not what the deck says. What is.
Not what the company believes. Not the internal narrative. What is actually happening in the team, the product, the market, and the story the company tells about itself.
03 - REBUILD FROM THE OUTSIDE IN
Right people. Right process. Right direction.
A machine built around what is actually true, not what was assumed when the company was smaller, younger, or pitching a different room.
THE WORK
I embed. I find the truth.
I build the machine.
I leave when it runs without me.
PHASE ONE: THE READ
Four to six weeks embedded in your company with your customers, your team, your products, and your marketing. I find what is actually true from the outside in. It ends with a working session where we build the path forward together. Not a report handed to you. A plan you built with me.
Find what is actually true.
PHASE TWO: THE BUILD
Build the machine around it.
I stay and implement what The Read revealed. Right people in right roles. Process and AI infrastructure built in. A customer intelligence system that keeps you permanently close to the market. I leave when the organization runs without me, not on a fixed date, but when it is genuinely ready.
"This is a serious engagement for companies at a serious inflection point."

Most brand strategists have never released a product. Most product leaders cannot build a brand. Most operators cannot think at the strategic level. I have done all three for 27 years.
At ADT and Trustwave, I walked into organizations broken by acquisition, products that did not know each other existed, teams that had never been in the same room. I fixed them at the VP and Global Head level, under PE ownership, with real revenue on the line.
At Twitter, I built the billion-dollar strategy that revealed what the company's own investors could not see from the inside: the US market was contracting, and the real opportunity lay in markets nobody was looking at yet.
At Dock Health, I was the founder. I felt that gap personally. And I fixed it the same way I always do, by going outside before touching anything inside.
